Nowadays, nearly all drawings are prepared on computers, and can be transmitted to all parties involved in contracts electronically. This saves considerable time, especially when amendments are required. Workshop drawings, prepared by the steelwork contractor, show each and every component or member, with full details for fabrication. These are submitted to the engineer for approval, prior to work starting, but the contractor is still responsible for any errors or omissions. Once approved, these drawings become regarded as contract drawings.

Fire resisting construction was used to enclose areas of high risk and to separate them from these areas.
